DISAPPOINTMENT FOR PADDY MCBREARTY AS HIS STAR STUDDED UUJ SIDE CRASH OUT OF SIGERSON CUP

first_imgPatrick McBrearty’s UUJ side were stunned in the Sigerson Cup by DCU.Donegal GAA star Patrick McBrearty was left reeling yesterday afternoon when his UUJ (University Ulster Jordanstown) suffered a shock defeat at home to DCU. UUJ were hotly tipped to win the competition as the team was stacked with high profile inter-county talent.DCU was always going to be a formidable opponent, but the fact UUJ had home advantage and such a strong panel they were the hot favourites to not only defeat DCU, but to win the competition outright. Along with McBrearty, the UUJ side contained Mayo star Cillian O’Connor, Tyrone forward Ronan O’Neill and former AFL star and Down forward Caolan Mooney. However, they never recovered from a dreadful start which seen DCU score two early goals that left UUJ trailing by seven points at the break. They did at one stage reduce the deficit to four points but DCU finished strong and scored an unanswered 1-2 in the final stages to close a comfortable nine point surprise win.DISAPPOINTMENT FOR PADDY MCBREARTY AS HIS STAR STUDDED UUJ SIDE CRASH OUT OF SIGERSON CUP was last modified: February 5th, 2015 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:DCUGAAnewsPaddy McBreartySigerson CupSportUUJlast_img
