Union Holds Memorial Debate for Benazir Bhutto

first_imgThe Oxford Union Debating Society organised a memorial debate in honour of the assassinated Pakistan opposition leader Benazir Bhutto.The event, held last Thursday on January 17th, was attended by former colleagues and friends of the past Union president as well as her son, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The first year Christ Church student did not speak on the occasion.The debate proposition ‘this house believes that the ideal state is a secular state’ was scheduled way before Ms Bhutto’s death but was ideally suited to become a memorial for her, according to a family spokesman.Alan Duncan MP was amongst those who paid tribute, saying: ‘She was amazing, fiery and fun.’by Katherine Halllast_img

Southwest Planes Collide on Nashville Tarmac; No Injuries Reported

first_imgOfficials with Southwest Airlines say that two of their planes collided on the tarmac of Nashville International Airport late Saturday evening.During push back from the gate, Southwest Flight 1555, which was scheduled to depart for St. Louis, clipped the wing of Southwest Flight 4580, which was about to take off to Atlanta.After the incident, both aircrafts returned to the gate and were taken out of service for evaluation.Airline officials said no injuries were reported as a result of Saturday night’s collision.The flights were moved to other planes to continue on to the scheduled destinations.The FAA is investigating the collision.last_img

(AP) — Former Cincinnati Bengals standout Ken Riley, who was also a coach and athletic director at his alma mater Florida A&M, has died. The university made the announcement Sunday. June 7, 2020 Riley was 72. He played 15 seasons for the Bengals as a defensive back, with 65 career interceptions for 596 yards, and five touchdowns. The interceptions rank fifth in NFL history. He also recovered 18 fumbles.Before his NFL career, Riley was a four-year starter at quarterback for the Rattlers.
