Hugunin And Saubert Tabbed to Associated Press All-America Team

first_imgDES MOINES, Iowa – Drake University linebacker John Hugunin and tight end Eric Saubert were named to the Associated Press Football Championship Subdivision All-America Team. Hugunin and Saubert were both third team selections. Hugunin and Saubert become the Bulldogs’ first AP All-Americans since Dain Taylor garnered second team honors in 2010.Named third team STATS FCS All-America, Hugunin led the nation with nine forced fumbles while leading the Bulldogs with 116 tackles, ranking 20th in the nation, to go with 15 tackles for loss as he was named first team All-PFL. Saubert also headlined the FCS ADA All-America Team announced earlier by the Athletics Directors Association as well as being named third-team STATS FCS All-America. He led all PFL tight ends and also Drake’s receiving corps with 55 receptions for 580 yards and seven touchdowns, earning first team All-PFL honors. He also led all FCS tight ends with 5.0 receptions per game. Saubert’s 57.5 reception yards per game were tied for second and his seven TD receptions were tied for third among FCS tight ends.Also joining Hugunin and Saubert on the AP All-America Teams from the PFL were defensive backs Donald Payne from Stetson and Justin Grier from Morehead State.  Print Friendly Versionlast_img read more
