Chidambaram was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation from his residence at New Delhi late on Wednesday in connection with the INX Media case. Kishan Reddy said the scandal took place when the UPA government was in power and the present government had nothing to do with it. During the UPA government’s tenure from 2004-14, Chidambaram was handling the finance ministry portfolio between 2004 and 2008, before becoming home minister from December 2008 to July 2012. He returned to the finance ministry for the rest of the UPA-II term that ended in 2014.
